Ben is co-founder and MD of Jazz Choirs, he looks after our musical direction and development and all of Jazz Choirs musical business.
Ben’s experience and talent makes Jazz Choirs possible, he is the person behind our teaching techniques, repertoire, arrangements and unique learning tracks.
Having graduated in Jazz from Guildhall School of Music, Ben has founded several successful Jazz and vocal harmony groups and is MD of several choirs. Having released two studio albums with his own band ‘The Ben Cox Band’, Ben regularly performs around Europe and the UK.
Ben is passionate about Jazz and developing singers and his vision for Jazz Choirs is to create a fun and accessible space where anyone can enjoy singing this wonderful music!
Jazz Choirs was the brain child of co-founder Tina who had the initial idea of a Jazz choir for people who like her enjoy singing but do not sight read. With co founders Ben & Arren that simple idea set us off on our Jazz Choirs journey! Together the drive, energy and enthusiasm of these three founding members has made an aspirational conversation between friends a reality. Tina looks after our membership, accounts and the day to day running of Jazz Choirs.

For Tina, Jazz Choirs is a space to enjoy singing with other hobbyists and indulged her love of Jazz in a social and supportive setting. A place where she can develop her voice, her style and technique, meet new people and enjoy singing this great music together.
Arren co-founded Jazz Choirs with Tina and Ben and together they developed the initial idea for Jazz Choir from that early conversation between friends. Arren’s passion for music and new ideas pushed our vision onward. Arren looks after our branding, website and comms and with Tina, manages the day to day running of Jazz Choirs.
Arren has sung in amateur bands and solo spots over the years experimenting with different types of music from acoustic folk to soul, jazz & blues and pop. Arren sees Jazz Choirs as a 360 Jazz experience where he can enjoy singing and develop his skills but also expand his enjoyment and experience in a way that continue outside of weekly rehearsals, meeting new people and discovering new things through the additional learning and networking resources on the members area of the Jazz Choirs website.
Co-founder Sally joined Jazz Choirs as one of a group of friends, who regularly sing together in choirs and workshops, following that initial conversation between Ben, Tina & Arren. Sally’s positivity and diplomacy reinforced the idea that ‘the idea’ was good and that she was a perfect fit! Approachable, knowledgeable and experienced, Sally looks after People and Policy for Jazz Choirs.
Sally was drawn to Jazz at a young age, influenced by her dad who drummed with a Jazz band and is a big fan of iconic crooners Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Sally is a regular at Crazy Cox’s open mic and has taken part in many esteemed Jazz workshops around Europe & the UK. Jazz Choirs brilliant accompanist and brings the musical landscape to our rehearsals breathing life into our arrangements. Jonathan supports Ben in all aspects of managing our repertoire and the musical running our rehearsals.
Jonathan has been a pianist, composer and educator for twenty years in the fields of jazz and tango, has worked with legendary funk musicians Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley and played and recorded with many great jazz musicians including Iain Ballamy, Eddie Parker, Andy Sheppard, Gilad Atzmon, Tim Whitehead and Steve Arguelles. Jonathan currently teaches jazz at the Guildhall School in London as well as being a music examiner for ABRSM.
Jonathan is passionate about music and for him Jazz Choirs is a space to revel in that passion, express himself and enjoy music he loves. Jonathan’s Jazz Choirs is simply a place to play and make a joyful noise!
Jane joined Jazz Choirs as a co-founder shortly after Sally and has been pushing us forward ever since with a perfect blend of pragmatic directness and supportive sensitivity. With her experience as a professional performer and great commercial sense, Jane looks after media and press for Jazz Choirs.
Jane has had a long career in the entertainment industry on both television and stage and sings in Choirs and A cappella groups. Jane is a sophisticated Soprano.
Jane’s Jazz Choirs is just about singing for the joy of singing, no sight reading or note bashing. Simply learning and performing great arrangements of songs we love and songs we don’t know we love yet!
